Good morning & Happy Halloween lovely dreamers! And of course, welcome to another Halloween mad article here on the Dreaming of Butterflies blog.
Today, because of popular demand (and because we just can’t help ourselves), we’re sharing with you our top picks for this year’s Halloween costumes for singles, couples and groups of friends.
These costumes are so fun and so easy to put together, that even if you’re having an indoor Halloween Party with only a couple of friends, or you just want to enjoy Halloween movies with your bae, you’ll still have a good time.
As you most likely already know if you've been here on the blog before, Andy and I, being Maya, are mad about Halloween, and we always do something to feel special when October comes around, no matter what life throws at us.

I know we’ve done tons of other Halloween costumes articles in the past 4+ years, but recent pop culture events and releases really did a number on all of us.

20 Instant Classic 2021 Halloween Costumes you’ll definitely want to try
Squid Game
I bet Andy and I were not the only ones to be absolutely glued to the couches for a Squid Game marathon when it was released on Netflix.
From the mind-blowing story with quite a few unexpected twists to great costumes to a terrifying giant doll (that still haunts my dreams), this show is one of the best things ever.
No wonder it was no. 1 in over 90 countries for more than a week. It’s truly an instant classic. So here come the costumes!
- Workers costumes: Circle, Triangle, Square masks + pink jumpsuits + boots
- Front Man Costume: mask + black coat + black trousers + boots
- VIP + Host masks suits/robes + shoes
- Contestant: tracksuit + T-shirt + white shoes
This awesome couple from Reddit even included their cats into the mix, and IT IS AWESOME.
La casa de Papel/Money Heist
This will shock you! But guess what? To this day, we haven’t seen this show. But our friends love it, and so now we promise to actually watch it by the end of 2021.
The suits are sooo recognisable, they had to be included in the list.
Cruella costume
One of the best movie adaptations that focus on “the villain”. It’s right up there with Maleficent storywise. But when it comes to the costumes… absolutely FANTASTIC. With so many outfits to choose from, it will be hard to decide which Cruella you'll want to be.
Can’t get over that red dress and that spotted coat though.
Loki
When it comes to the MCU, we love what they’ve done so far with their TV series, especially Loki. Plus it gives us a ton of inspo when it comes to Halloween costumes. But the easiest to replicate from this show are:
- Sylvie - just get a Helmet + a cloak + black boots... and done!

WandaVision
Couples, this one is definitely for you. From WandaVision through the ages, to their classic Wanda and Vision costumes, there’s plenty to choose from. For today, we went with 2 easy (and pregnancy-friendly) picks:
- Wanda’s pregnancy dress + boots (+ wig)
- Vision’s 70s inspired look: Shirt, tie, Sweater Vest, Coat, blue jeans + shoes
Black Widow
Ignoring all the scandal between Scarlet Johansson and Disney because of the movie, this one is still good for the list. Sexy singles, BFFs, and even couples, this one's for you. Think of Black Widow through the MCU phases, and pick your fave. All you need is:
- Black onesie + a belt + boots + prop guns. Voila!
Met Gala
Although this is not a thing I usually follow, over the years the Met Gala has birthed some of the craziest garments ever in pop culture. There’s always one that steals the show, and today, we’ve picked 3 of the best ones from the Met Gala's recent history.
- Kim K’s all-black costume - to DIY this you'll need: a black sheet, black boots, a long ponytail (if you don't already have long black hair), black gloves, a black dress, 2 pars of black tights & minimal sewing knowledge. You can wear 1 pair of tights, and use the other to makeshift the head+neck coverage situation. The sheet is perfect for a train.
- Jared Leto + his head - to DIY this you'll need: a red turtleneck dress, some long crystal strip to wrap around yourself and a manequin head that looks like you. done!
- Katy Perry’s Burger dress (+shoes!) - to DIY this you'll need: a hamburger costume, hamburger slippers, and something sparky on top of your head. done!
TikTok
Ok… there’s no denying it. TikTok stole our hearts, our time and our attention. Even us, who hate being on display like that, now we have a TikTok (don’t forget to give us a follow)!
And because of that, we couldn’t help ourselves and include some of the most popular trends TikTok gave us these past few months.

This must be the anthem of every entrepreneur, no matter how newbie they are in the business world. Or any other being out there proud of who they are and what they have become. How to pull it off? It’s simple!
Blue space onesie, bald cap (optional), cowboy hat. Done! (and maybe sing the song…)

Say what you want, but Khaby Lame’s facial expression is EVERYTHING. Just put on a hoodie, find the most ridiculous life hacks out there, and show them how it’s done. But don’t forget the face!
Famous couples of 2021
I’m not one to go crazy about the stars’ private life, but these couples are so big right now, plus I’m such a sucker for love, that I just had to include them in this list.
- Bennifer 2.0
Since they got back together, the world seems to have a renewed faith in lost and found love and second chances, don’t you think?
They have quite a few great moments together, from the Gigli premiere outfits, to Oscars, to the wildly famous yacht scene from “Jenny from the block”, but if you’re not feeling it, go for the more “civilian” looks. 2003 street style, or 2021 street style. Your choice.
- Machine Gun Kelly & Megan Fox
Now I know that these two are just sex on legs for us mortals, but their chemistry and love for each other is undeniable. And now that Boohoo released their collab with Megan Fox, it’s easier than ever to find something to wear.
For inspo, just look at what Delaney Childs did! I swear I still think Clayton is MGK’s clone or something.
