How to DREAM with PURPOSE
Tell me are you living your dream life or a nightmare?
Personally, I am a HUGE believer in the power of attraction, and I always used it, ever since I was little to get to where I wanted to go in life.
But this wasn’t just “oh mom! I dreamt I had a pony! buy me one.” It was always more than that. I used to daydream a lot about my life and about my future. And this is something I still do.
Most of the things that were not so important to me got lost in Dreamland, but the BIG things happened.
For example:
I dreamt of learning the art of photography because I loved it ever since I was a child. The universe, in the form of my parents, provided.
They helped me buy my first camera, but I found out where to learn photography, enrolled in the school and actually did the work to become a pro photographer - specialised in film photography.
I dreamt of being a concerts and festivals photographer (ah, the power of the press pass!) and then I got a job that taught me the basics, and shortly after, a magazine needed someone to be their photographer at a Summer festival - press pass and all. So guess who jumped to that gig?
I dreamt of travelling, of living in other countries, of finding my person, the one that can accept me for me, of being a cat mom, of living in my own home - and not paying rent.
Every single thing that I dreamt of that helped me become a better person, so far, has happened.
It wasn’t always easy to get it, and it wasn’t just my part that needed to happen for those dreams to come true, but this is where the magic of the universe provided.
And even if today I'm filming this without my husband here to make me feel even more awkward than I am, because he took a huge leap towards his dreams and I couldn't follow just yet, I know this is the Universe at play.
And I am just one small example in a universe of dreamers who saw their dreams come true.
I would love to give big-name examples like:
- Walt Disney: The creator of Disney,
- J.K. Rowling: The author of the Harry Potter series,
- Bill Gates: the creator of Microsoft…
But I would rather you think about:
- that mom who raised 2 by herself because she didn’t have a husband, and she saw them get their college degrees and be on track for a successful life,
- that young entrepreneur who started a simple online business selling personalised mugs and t-shirts who is now able to have a decent life and hire other young people to help him
- that couple who finally finished paying their debts and working two jobs each so they could finally get married and go on the honeymoon they always wanted
- that artist friend of yours (let’s be serious, we all have one) who lives and breaths only for art that is finally recognised for their decades of hard work and dedication to their craft
- that woman who finally embraced her power, lost 100 lbs and changed her life, because she finally found her voice…
just to name a few….
Dreams are not always about the million dollars if that is not what you want in life.
But why is dreaming so important? - I hear you asking
Dreaming is the first step in a long and rewarding journey. It is the step that helps you connect with yourself. Here is where you can, and should, be 100% honest.
Now it’s when you must get in touch with your inner child, with your inner dreamer and ask them:
-“what do you want to do?”
-“what will make you/us truly happy?”
-“how do you want your life to be from now on?”
Dare to dream, as no dream is too big or too small to not be accomplished IF you truly want it.
Yes! you should think of evolving, growing, being and having MORE. that’s normal. But at the same time, you must start small and go step-by-step.
You need to create a strong foundation first, and then build it up, one day at a time. this will help you avoid overwhelm and stress and (funny enough) in some cases it might help if not beat at least postpone your need for procrastination .But what you need is to learn how to do that dreaming a bit organised.
This might sound silly, insane, or simply taking all the fun out of imagining your future, but it’s actually meant to help you focus, and reduce the overwhelm as much as possible in the process to come. Yes, reaching your dreams is an ENTIRE PROCESS that affects every aspect of your life, not just the one related to your dream.
Remember:
You have to be the one to dream, follow that dream, and do whatever it takes to see it come true. No one else can do that for you. With that in mind, let’s get into...
Goal setting in 3 easy steps:
Step I. Areas of life
Write down the Areas of Your Life that you want to improve:
- Love life
- General Relationships (family, friends)
- Home
- Lifestyle in general
- Car
- Health & fitness & beauty
- Professional area (career, entrepreneurship)
- Savings & money
- Fun & Leisure (travel, books to read, pets)
Think of little wins, as well as big, 5 to 10-year goals. No matter how exhausting or stupid it sounds.
Do you want to spend more time with your loved one? A better sex life? (hey, we’re all adults here).Do you want big changes in your home, health, or lifestyle? Want to change your profession or reach a higher level? Do you want 1M$?
Make sure to dig deep, and be honest with yourself. No dream is too big or small and no area should be omitted because of doubt or fear.
Step II. Important life questions
Answering these questions might help you get just one step closer to knowing what you need to fix:
- What does your dream house look like?
- What characteristics does your ideal partner have?
- What kinds of vacations do you want to take?
- What part of the world do you want to live in?
- What kind of friends do you want around you?
- What hobbies do you want to have?
- What do you want to do for yourself every month? (this can be anything from beauty treatments to massages, or buying something that makes you happy)
- How do you want to spend your free time?
- What is your dream career?
- At what level do you want your career to be?
Again, dig deep, and think of the details. That’s where you’ll find yourself, your true self. And you’ll find out where you want to be, what’s lacking in your life now, and get a better idea of where you have to go to be truly happy.
Also, these questions may vary according to your wants and needs, so make sure to think about every aspect of your life that you think would benefit from some improvement and make up your own questions as well.
Step III. The big WHY
Why do you want whatever it is that you want for every area of your life that you wrote down?
Think with your heart, not ego. Think about how it will make you feel when you see yourself accomplished, not how others see you and what they say. It’s the perfect time to get in touch with your inner child as well.
Meditate, if it helps. Concentrate on making you happy, not anyone else around you.
Remember, you’re the only one you have to make happy - no one else will do the work for you.
Pro tip:
If you need help finding out the Why, the book Start With Why, by Simon Sinek is a great help on this point.
So tell me, what's your dream for 2025?
And until next time don’t forget to DREAM. FOLLOW. DO.
