Good morning, lovely dreamers, and welcome to another Valentine's Day infused article here on the Dreaming of Butterfly blog! Today, we're focusing on the little (and not so little) things that make any relationship better.

First things first. Confession time.

Andy and I, being Maya, have been together for a little more than 11 years now, and on the looooooong list of things we have in common, there's one little thing worth mentioning today - we both hated Valentine's Day since the dawn of time.

Now, before you go all crazy and dramatic and say "then why the hell are you telling me about Valentine's Day gifts?", let me clarify.

We don't hate the day for what it is, but for what others make it - an excuse to buy the kitschiest and most unnecessary things out there, and (in the case of some) to hook up for just one day so you won't spend it alone and be viewed as pathetic (true story).

Valentine's Day should not be the only day you show your feelings, it's not like you love more on that day than any other. But that still doesn't mean that you can't do something to surprise your loved one. And today we want to prove that even small gestures can do a ton of good to a relationship if they are done right.

10 Surprising FREE Valentine's Day Gifts to Give This Year

1. Clean & tidy the house

I know this sounds crazy but stay with me for a sec.

For some people, like me, if they are the ones doing most of the housekeeping - from grocery shopping, cooking to cleaning and organizing the house at least 3 times a week, having a break from all that is the perfect gift.

You don't have to go all out and crazy and move the furniture around and clean every little corner of the house, you can stick to just washing the dishes and putting them in their place, vacuuming and tidying up a bit.

2. Cook something new (or a favourite dish)

Instead of going out and spending too much on dinner in a place that might be too crowded and noisy, why not cook something together this Valentine's Day and enjoy each other's company? It's waaay cheaper, and it can get really sexy, really fast.

When you and your partner cook something delicious it can be a very good way to start the engines, don't you think? Doing stuff with your hands, using your senses to combine ingredients, feeding each other...

Or maybe just one of you cooks and surprises the other. That's a big win as well, trust me! Just be careful with the knives and other sharp objects on the kitchen counter, if things get hot.

3. Massage each other

As a form of relaxation and another reason to have your hands all over each other, you might want to think of creating a mini massage studio in your bedroom for the night. Just think about it: candles, lavender and musk scent in the air, your oily bodies relaxing and enjoying the other's touch...

That's the start of something really... special.

4. Netflix and chill

Or whatever you want to call it.

Put on a movie, make some popcorn, cuddle under a warm blanket and enjoy. If you're one of those couples who works a lot and is always in stress mode, this is another perfect way of disconnecting, at least for a couple of hours.

Plus, if the movie is boring, it's the perfect excuse to have a prolonged make-up session.

5. Surprise each other

This is the part where you do something for your significant other, that he or she might not expect you to do, at least not now, but also that can be created without spending more money.

I'm not talking about you dressing up as a magician and doing tricks (unless that exactly what you should do!), I'm talking about that little something that only you can do.

From composing and singing a song to creating together a digital photo album of all your adventures together in Canva, or 3D printing something nice (if you already have a 3D printer ofc) there are many things you can do to surprise each other, without having it cost money a dime. Just let your imagination fly!

6. Game night (online or off)

Want something more from your date tonight?

If you're a geeky couple that can't and won't fit into the mass hysteria of Valentine's, why not make it a game night? Get your comfy gear on, and choose your weapons, and then log on and do some damage together!

Ah, the rush you get after a victory in the Nexus!

Or you could play any board game or social game you have in the house. Why not make it interesting and play for wins? If one of you wins, the other gets a sexy dare. Strat nicely and get the dares hotter and hotter. Thank me later.

7. Midnight picnic

Creating a magical setting with fairy lights, some candles, a blanket in the middle of the living room, or the bed, if you live in a studio apartment and don't have an actual living room.

You don't even have to stress about cooking something extra fancy, think of simple things, like hot dogs, sandwiches, fruits. Yum!

Oh, and if you want to take it one step further, you can always build a fort, get some fairy lights going, some nice background music... the perfect romantic setting.

8. Bring sexy back!

One of the best things you can do for your Valentine is to do a sensual dance routine for their benefit! It's fun, it's intimate, it gets your blood flowing... And your other stuff going, if you know what I mean.

You don't have to strip it all down if you don't want to. For inspiration, you always listen to the queen, Beyonce. Then, just let the rhythm guide you.

9. Marvin Gaye and get it on

Sometimes, the simplest solution is the best. If you're super restricted by budget and time, or for whatever reason, keep it basic. Don't overcomplicate things.

Light up those scented candles if you have them, make the bed, turn off your phones and other distractions, put on some Marvin Gaye, or whatever starts your engines and just get it on.

If you have kids or pets that need to be taken care of, there are always baby and pet sitters that you can employ for the evening, or you can ask someone you trust to do that for you.

Have fun!

10. Unleash your fantasies!

In other words... light bondage (you can use scarves for that btw), get out all the toys from the naughty box, put on some edible undies, and whatever else your kinky mind cooks up! Just let that sex beast inside you run the show for a night. And as long as you're both into it, I guarantee you'll have a great time.

But please make sure that both of you approve and are comfy with whatever it is you want to do. All that is left to say is... Have fun!

Aaaand that's all for today, lovely dreamers! We hope you enjoyed our list of free Valentine's Day gifts, and if you did, don't forget to share it, pin it, tweet it! We won't stop you!
