Good morning, lovely dreamers! (even if it's like 6 pm here) Today's article is a special one for us because we wanted to go and explore another side of the man who taught us so much, and who inspired so many people to pursue their dreams, no matter what.

Stephen Hawking changed our general perception about the universe as we know it (and not only), but what many people don't know is how incredibly funny he was, or how much he knew about life. Today we're sharing with you some of the brilliant life lessons that he gave us.

Personally, we, being Maya (the one who's writing this)  and Andy, my beloved husband, would have loved to have the opportunity to see him in person once in this life.

Unfortunately for us, we will have to be satisfied with the thought that we can always read his books, or that there are still numerous, and very inspiring, youtube videos of him, like this one:

or that he appeared in one of our favorite TV shows, aka The Big Bang Theory, and we can always rewatch those moments:

But enough with the chit-chatting! Let's get to it!

Who was Stephen Hawking?

Stephen Hawking was the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, one of the most brilliant and recognizable theoretical physicists since Einstein, and author of many books that are also accessible and easily understood by the general public (aka us normal people), including A brief history of time and The Universe in a nutshell. The beginning of his career and life was portrayed in the film The Theory of Everything, by the lovely Eddie Redmayne, who is also our beloved Newt Scamander in Fantastic Beasts and where to find them.

At the age of 21, he was given only two years to live, after being diagnosed with a motor neuron disease. In spite of that, he lived to see all these technological changes, the birth of the internet, he even flew into space at some point in his life and experienced zero gravity! He truly was amazing, and for us, it was such a privilege to live on this Earth at the same time as he did.

10 brilliant life lessons learned from Stephen Hawking

1. Nothing is impossible

In spite of his condition, he got married, had children, became a professor, and maintained a great sense of humor. If this is not an encouragement, I don't know what is.

2. About hope

I got to experience this myself two years ago, and again this year when my grandfather and my father passed away after both battling cancer. We always said, while there is still life in them, we can still hope they can get better. Until the very last second, we were hopeful.

3. Life and time

And don't we all? The problem is in how we can manage our time correctly and efficiently.Related:How to manage your time and get more things done in one day

4. About Love

Even though we're not old, we are definitely old school. We're the kind of people that don't throw away something that has a little damage, we try to fix it first. This is the reason why we lasted for so long and are still going strong.Personal advice: Communicate with your loved one, share your life and experience.

5. Be Curious

If you're not curious, you can't learn new stuff, you can't evolve. Ask questions, and you will find the answers. From books to movies, to friends and of course - Google. There's an answer for everything, you just have to ask the right questions.

6. About People

In essence, even though we have different backgrounds, skins, religion, we're humans.

7. Stay Funny

We've said it before, we'll say it again. Having a good sense of humor really is a statement of someone's intelligence. Stephen Hawking was a really funny guy.

8. About intelligence

This is one of my personal favorite from this list of life quotes.

9. Never give up

This is one of the most comforting quotes, especially for a 20-something-year-old. You're in that decade of your life when you're rediscovering yourself, when you're making your path in life, finding your purpose. And let's face it, it's not always a pretty road.

10. About death

My hope is we get to achieve at least half of what he did in his life. He changed our perception of the world and the Universe. I just hope we can help change the future at least for some, one day at a time, one word at a time before we go to the other side. This article is dedicated to Stephen Hawking - that was, is and always will be one of the greatest men to live on this Earth. There really is a big black hole in the Universe now that you are gone.If you liked this article, don't forget to share it, pin, it, tweet it!

Our question for you is: What is your favorite thing you learned from Stephen Hawking?

Maya Butterfly

Hey there! I'm Maya. A dreamer, a wannabe entrepreneur (learning to be a good one as we speak), a witch, a cat mom, a wife, a geek. I am a proud Ravenclaw and also love fantasy books and movies. Welcome to our corner of the interwebs!
