Good morning, lovely dreamers, and welcome to another “healthy curiosities” blog post! Today we want to share with you our love for this magical liquid that flows through the Earth, and exists through us as well: water.

Updated on 09/02/2021.

Let’s face it. As young adults in our 20s (and even early 30s), we don’t always make healthy lifestyle choices.

With this new series here on the blog, I just wanted to remind all of us that there are a lot of good reasons why we should go for the healthy alternatives and that even some foods like dark chocolate can be good for you, in small doses.

5 Strange Benefits of Drinking Water

One of the best examples for water is the obvious preventing dehydration, Captain Obvious, but for today, I wanted to find the ones that are rarely known, like the following:

1. It may prevent several types of cancer

Let me be clear about this. It doesn’t cure it, it’s not magical, but several studies have shown that it may protect against bladder cancer, by helping your body keep itself clean.

It is also in observation the fact that it may help prevent colon and breast cancer as well, but there is not enough evidence so far.

There are also studies that talk about how water helps in cancer treatments as well, that are really interesting and may lead to water playing a much more important part in the battle for curing cancer.

2. It makes you stronger

Our cells are very sensitive to fluid imbalance, so if you are dehydrated you might find yourself with pain and fatigue in your body. The most affected are especially your muscles, bones and your cartilages, that need to be properly lubricated.

You could be as big as a mountain, but you could barely pick up a chair.

You should keep yourself hydrated throughout the day, not only while working out. Us for example always have a bottle of water with us everywhere we go, and we try to drink at least 2 litres of water every single day.

3. It naturally prevents headaches

Sorry for the picture, couldn’t help it! Ah, Oberyn, why??? Damn it, George!

Many people suffer from severe headaches, that can last even for a few days. In our family, it is known that when we have a stressful period, we get nasty headaches.

My cousin, for example, when he was during his exam period in college, he could barely sleep because of the pain, but then he tested this method, and guess what? It worked.

If you had some problems and couldn’t stay hydrated and are now facing a terrible headache, drink two large glasses of water, one after the other, before popping pain killers. In a few minutes, the pain will go start to go away.

4. It improves your mood

Apparently, there is a strange connection between water and your mood. Some people say that it is not necessary to be really dehydrated to experience a mood change.

It has to do with the water levels in the body. You might just be a little mellow when in fact all you need is a glass of water.

Be sure to drink enough water!

5. It helps with weight loss

You know how trainers and athletes always say that you need to keep yourself hydrated all the time? It’s because you need to fuel your body with pure, natural energy.

Drinking water 15 minutes before every meal also helps with digestion, and it alerts the mind that you are full, even though you may have eaten less than usual.

Another great plus point is that it boosts your metabolism.

Tip. Although it is said that you need to drink 8 glasses of water each day, keep in mind that the quantity of water you need depends on your body type, size, lifestyle and goals.

The bigger you are, the more water you need to keep your water levels balanced.

And don’t forget that your water intake will modify throughout the year because of your lifestyle and those changes, and even because of season’s changing, so make sure to constantly pay attention to yourself and your body.

Aaaaand that’s all for today, lovely dreamers! We hope you enjoyed our top 5 of strange benefits drinking water has, and if you did, please don’t forget to share it, pin it, tweet it! We would surely appreciate it!
